Smoke Fired Raku
The colours and contours of South Devon’s coast and country inspire my unique sculptural ceramics.
I use abstraction to more powerfully and directly convey and share my love and feelings for the beautiful and moving landscape in which l live and work.
Each smoke fired Raku pot is individually hand built and lovingly burnished. Striking rivers of copper or green glaze flow across the burnished surface evoking the setting sun shimmering on river Avon and marshland.
Raku kiln made from a oil drum.
Temperature taken to a 1,000c until glaze is molten.
Hot pot placed into sawdust bin to smoke.
